Nålbinding is an ancient yarn craft used by people from Egypt and Peru to the Vikings, older than knitting and crochet, and now considered an endangered heritage craft. In this beginner workshop, you'll learn a short history of the technique and the Oslo stitch, then work together on a small pouch that you can keep for yourself or give as a holiday gift! No knitting or crochet experience is needed, though it can help. What's included: instruction, handouts, and all supplies to make your pouch. $70 + $15 material fee.
Instructor Bio: Kasha Linn is a fiber artist based in St. Cloud, Minnesota, and the creative force behind Kasha's Knits. With a lifelong love of yarn and traditional handcrafts, she specializes in making fiber arts feel accessible and welcoming.
Known for her work in Nålbinding—an ancient looping technique that predates knitting—Kasha loves helping students discover the joy of creating fabric with nothing more than a needle, wool, and a bit of patience. Her classes emphasize understanding how the stitches work, and building confidence through hands-on practice. She’s passionate about teaching this ancient craft to a new generation of crafters to help keep it alive!
When she isn't teaching, you'll likely find her hand-dyeing wool, spinning colorful art yarns, or dreaming up new projects in her century-old farmhouse, where she lives with her husband, two daughters, and beloved pets. Whether you're completely new to Nålbinding or looking to deepen your skills, Kasha's warm, encouraging teaching style will leave you inspired to continue your fiber arts journey.
